Note that I did not get nominated in time for the election, so I am not actually standing. Thus I am concentrating on helping the Scottish Socialist Party in Glasgow, putting the interests of the working class above my own interests. For more information, visit the Steve Wallis for MP! page.
You can read my manifesto in small (10.5pt) or large (18pt) font sizes, and choose between HTML or Word 2000 versions of each page. If you choose Word, you can select full colour or black and white versions. [I've used "Book Antiqua" for most text, which looks a bit nicer than "Times New Roman" and appears a bit bigger for the same font size (10.5pt is OK for most readers). The only other font I've used is "Arial", for headings.]
I have directed those with sight difficulties to my website in large print on the front page, and suggested the use of the internet for blind people (since software to speak the contents of web pages exists) and foreign language speakers (since they can use an automatic translator).
The HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) versions are compatible with any internet browser, but the formatting may not be as good if you are not using Internet Explorer (I had to do some messing around to get round some bugs in that browser).
The Word versions are compatible with virtually all word processors; if you load the small print Word versions into Microsoft Word, the text should appear exactly as it will appear in the election communication to voters. If you want to print copies out, you will probably prefer to load the Word versions. If you intend to make photocopies, or can only print in black, you will probably preer to load the black and white rather than colour versions. [Four of the eight pages are in colour.]
Although there are quite a lot of pictures, no Word file is greater than 111KB (because I have used the JPEG format which compresses images a lot). The large print versions of the pages contain magnified images.
The manifesto must be vetted (just for obsceme comments/pictures, adverts, etc. I am told) before I get copies printed and organise delivery to Royal Mail delivery offices. They should be delivered by postal workers through approximately 43,000 letterboxes (there are multiple delivery points so I am not reliant on a single Royal Mail office cooperating).
