Steve Wallis’ musical poem:

Belly Of The Beast

Written by Steve Wallis, 12/3/2007

Dedicated to Priya of War Cry Independent Cinema

There’s somebody I really like called Priya.
Someone who in the belly of the beast showed no fear!
She interviewed delegates at a Republican Convention
Out-thinking and exposing them, showing no tension!

Her group, War Cry Independent Cinema, can produce great videos.
My band, Red Day, may become one which everybody knows!
We can put the videos on the internet to be downloaded for free
And very soon we will make capitalism history!

I think I may fall in love with Priya
I’ll invite her to Scotland; I really want to see her!
I met her at an Earth First! Gathering
I would love her to hear and video me sing!

I just can’t wait
To ask her out for our very first date.
Would it be cool if I held her hand?
It’d be great if she videos my band.

I’m attracted to her partly due to her anarchist politics;
She is very effective and not put off by big business’s dirty tricks.
At the Gathering, I danced with her and many others,
I chatted with her a fair amount and she didn’t seem to have a lover.

I’d love her to dance with me
Cheek to cheek,
With nobody here
Except her and me,
She could be my lady whose black.

Let’s sing about a revolution,
That sounds not like a whisper but a song and a shout!
Shout! Shout! Let it all out!
Let them all know what we’re on about!
Come on, I’m talking to you!
Shout! Shout! Let it all out!
On big business, we’ll inflict a rout!
