The Environment

Climate Change – Big Business controlled the weather!

The editorial in the Guardian on the 3rd of February 2005 included the sentence “The Exeter conference was told that whatever policies area adopted from this point on, the Earth’s temperature will rise by 0.6F within the next 30 years.” It is predictions like this, by organisations like the Green Party and Friends of the Earth that such organisations have tended to be very middle class – because most working class people are much more concerned about bread and butter issues than such slow changes in temperature, by which time society could have changed a lot (for example by a socialist revolution occurring). [My father, who had inflicted mental torture on my mother for many years during their marriage, leading to her going onto psychiatric wards a few times, as I describe in the Prologue of my autobiography “Transition”, was and probably still is a scientific “expert” for Friends of the Earth.] Whether or not the models of temperature increases are roughly correct – and whether or not global warming is primarily caused by human beings rather than temperature changing in cycles (with periods of time when temperatures rise and other periods when they decline) – it is a fact that serious climate change is happening now! This is or will soon undoubtedly cause environmental organisations to become much more working class.

In the very recent past, there have been very dramatic climatic events, starting with repeated massive storms over the Caribbean and Florida. Whereas such storms had occurred before, on previous occasions they had moved from one area to another, whereas in 2004 they occurred in the same Caribbean countries repeatedly. People in the USA were usually able to escape the floods easily, but it was much harder for the generally much poorer people in the Caribbean – and due to massive amounts of looting on a previous occasion when they tried to escape the storm, most inhabitants of one of the Caribbean countries remained in their homes to protect their few possessions. As a result, many of them died.

An anti-war campaigner and environmentalist called Cath Bann was a very good collaborator for a mine, particularly over a period of a few months in late 2002 and early 2003. Her influence made me consider myself a revolutionary socialist (Marxist heavily influenced by anarchism) because she came from an anarchist/autonomist position (although she said once that she didn’t want to be called anything with an “ist” on the end). I was dismayed to hear of her plans to move to Cornwall with her partner Nathan – I blamed Nathan at the time for the seemingly irrational decision to move to Cornwall and even accused him of being the worst agent of big business on the planet (although whereas he may be playing a very bad role overall, I have got on much better with him since and realise that was certainly a considerable exaggeration)! Cath later told me that it was her idea to move rather than Nathan’s, and it made perfect sense when the village of Boscastle in Cornwall had massive floods in 2004 (considering that she is a very good and serious environmentalist). It was an extremely remarkable event, because the flooding was limited to that village and the amount of flooding there was so great! Perhaps Cath had heard on the grapevine that something important was going to happen in Cornwall, or others who knew that had influenced her. An additional reason may have been to dissuade me from staying in Manchester, which I was inclined to do when Cath was there since I was in love with her very much, and she was certainly very pleased when I told her that I was planning to move to Glasgow (although I did not manage to do that until about three years later). [Cath and Nathan moved back to Manchester later, although I hardly saw her then (perhaps because she made a conscious decision to avoid me due to my lingering feelings towards her) and I have since heard that they returned to Cornwall.]

Because I know that there is a huge amount of modelling of the world going on, and scientists are able to control many aspects of society, it is only rational to believe that they can control the weather to a certain extent at least. The much more recent BBC Superstorms drama series, and accompanying Science of Superstorms documentaries showed much more limited ways in which the weather can be and has been controlled than I think has really happened. One of the documentaries explained how the regime in the USSR had arranged for planes to fly over the radioactive clouds after the Chernobyl disaster, to “seed” the clouds in some way to cause rain to fall in certain areas due to worries that they would drift over a big Russian city.

The most dramatic aspect of recent climate change ever was the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean that started on Boxing Day 2004. I suspected, particularly because of that event, that the weather was being controlled by a bad organisation or other, rather than it being entirely out of control as we are led to believe. According to messages that I once read on the rec.music.gaffa newsgroup for fans of Kate Bush and similar kinds of music that a long time ago Wilhelm Reich built a machine to control the weather – which is what Kate’s song “Cloudbusting” on her best album “The Hounds of Love” is about. The rec.music.gaffa newsgroup (accessible via Google Groups) is linked to a “love hounds” mailing list, that circumvented censorship which occurred with all other music newsgroups, as well as many others, perhaps by the CIA, that prevented me from sending messages to them, because messages sent on the love hounds list (if you are on it) are automatically forwarded to the rec.music.gaffa newsgroup. If you send messages directly to the newsgroup, they may be censored by an individual moderator. Anew interface was provided more recently in which messages appear quickly rather than you having to wait a few hours in which case particularly important messages (especially when sent to groups with many readers such as the music ones) were likely to be censored. When this interface was first provided by the UK Google site, I finally managed to send message to other music ones using it, and can now send messages without them being censored via the US-based site too.

We had a great white Christmas in Manchester the day before the Tsunami, with a lot of snowflakes coming down on Christmas Day and with trees looking beautiful early on Boxing Day after snow had settled on them – I came to the conclusion that the working class had finally grabbed control of the weather from the hands of big business at that point in time, and I think that Cath played a big role in that process. Having a white Christmas (and not just a token one) puts people in a good mood, and it happening so effectively in Manchester helped the working class in this vitally important city for the world socialist revolution.

However, the following day’s Tsunami was in my view clearly in the interests of big business, and of course most working and middle class are far too ethical to deliberately allow an event involving such a huge loss of life to take place if we could prevent it. It is highly suspicious that the countries with the highest numbers of casualties were those in the region were those with the biggest independence movements – Sri Lanka (amongst the Tamils in the north of the island) and Indonesia (in Aceh and East Timor). Such tragedies as the one resulting from the Tsunami tend to result in moods of national unity, cutting across independence movements, so it is quite likely that big business grabbed control of the weather back again soon after Christmas and deliberately arranged for the Tsunami to start at the most beneficial point in the Indian Ocean from their point of view. However, there were positive developments resulting from the Tsunami, in the huge amounts ordinary people raised for charity in solidarity with people in the region and in exposing the New Labour government for its stinginess (firstly offering a mere £1 million in aid, then upping it to £15 million and finally being forced to offer to match amounts raised for charity of at least the order of £200 million). Ironically, at a time when New Labour and the Tories compete in attacking immigrants in general and asylum seekers in particular, many ordinary working class and middle class people are showing they do care about people in foreign lands.

However, the generosity of the British people towards ordinary people undergoing great suffering and financial problems around the Indian Ocean caused charitable donations to Africa to be reduced – which caused charities to close down their appeals for Tsunami donations (including Oxfam before the closure of the official appeal through the Disasters Emergency Committee).

As I pointed out in the overview of my book Revolution Destroyed?, at some point in March 2007, huge levels of modelling of the world by conspiratorial organisations on the side of big business ceased (due to a dilemma over whether Martine McCutcheon was good or bad, and whether she was a robot or human, believe it or not!) In the run-up to that point, the weather was being controlled to quite a large extent, and good infiltrators within the bad conspiratorial organisations exercising the control were able to ensure that some control was being exercised in a positive direction.

Hurricane Katrina (which on the one hand killed a lot of black people in New Orleans had bad repercussions from the point of view of big business in the reputation of George W Bush due to his uncaring and inept attitude to it) demonstrated that their control was getting less effective and difficult for big business to ensure aided them.

Since that point in March, the weather has become extremely erratic with huge degrees of floods in the UK, mainly over southern England, due (according to one news report) a regular storm that normally goes over the Atlantic diverting over the UK instead, and a massive heatwave over other areas of Europe. Good conspiratorial organisations are now modelling the world much more effectively than bad ones, but probably nowhere near the level of modelling required to exert much control over the weather.

For more information about my views on climate change, read the lyrics to my song The Global Warming Hoax. It makes the point that a shortage of fossil fuels and indeed uranium – making the rush to build nuclear power stations irrational unless there is a plan to allow a terrorist attack on a nuclear power station to occur, or to foil such a plan or lie about a plan to launch one, in order to justify further attacks on our civil liberties in the move towards a fascist state – mean that far more serious investment in renewable forms of energy are necessary even without global warming.

In my view, tidal power is by far the best solution to the world’s energy problems. It would not be subject to fluctuations in the weather or cause blots on the landscape. However, there has been no, or hardly any, research into tidal power to date. Since I first raised this issue in my document How our brains help or hinder the struggle for socialism, Scottish National Party and Liberal Democrat spokespeople on the environment have started taking up the issue.

Another point that I have never heard anybody else raise is the argument that micro-renewables, such as wind turbines or solar panels on people’s homes, could actually cause more damage to the environment than they solve due to the energy required to produce them. If it would take thirty years for it to produce enough energy to pay for it, then it would probably require a similar amount of energy to build and install the device in the first place! Obviously, the cost of a house is not directly proportional to the amount of energy required to build it, but there is some relationship between the cost and energy.

In my opinion, the main purpose of the global warming hoax is divide-and-rule, by getting some ordinary people blaming others for making the problem worse, by spending less money on things that are better for the environment, or such things as failing to turn lights off – or even turning energy-efficient lightbulbs off too often since this supposedly makes them less efficient! Divide-and-rule is the main strategy used by big business to stay in power, since there are far more of us than there are of them, and this is one more and highly effective use of it.
