Conspiracy Theories

My band Red Day has recorded a version of a song I wrote called 9/11 Inside Job; you can download a recording in MP3 format from the Red Day website, or from this website by clicking here. I wrote and distributed a message on BBC Conspiracy Files: 9/11 and Princess Diana, summarising the most convincing arguments in support of conspiracies in the BBC Conspiracy Files TV programmes, in July 2008.

A great programme entitled “The World’s Greatest Conspiracy Theories” was shown on Channel 5 (in the UK) a while ago. The programme was very conditional about all the conspiracies except for the final one, which it stated was fact (and provided a lot of evidence for this) – mind control. The following is the countdown from the programme, analysed according to the number of websites devoted to each conspiracy theory (over 100,000 for the first, over 500,000 for the last).

  1. Were the moon landings faked? – The programme talked about the possibility that it was filmed in a desert by Hollwood, focussing on the fact that the shadows on the moon’s surface weren’t compatible with the position of the sun, the movement of the US flag indicating that there was wind and the clarity of the photographs and film footage despite the two astronauts wearing cumbersome spacesuits. However, a fact that wasn’t mentioned that is even more convincing is that there are van Allen belts around the Earth emitting large amounts of radiation. Some people on the internet have argued that the level of radiation are small and that a spaceship can travel through them quickly. However, even if the belt was narrow enough and levels of radiation small enough for astronauts to be able to survive, they could still die of leukemia over time – this killed hundreds of thousands of people in Iraq (exacerbated by the sanctions regime which prevented equipment that could have saved some of their lives being available within that country). Furthermore, the fact that people only supposedly went back to the moon five times all in the 1970s, coupled with the fact that we still have not visited Mars despite massive advances in technlogy since then, indicates that it is not possible to get much further away from the Earth than Yuri Gagarin. It was politically important for the USA to fake the moon landings as part of the Cold War, after Russian Gagarin became the first person to get into space. The most important factor in this conspiracy theory is the fact that George W Bush could blow up whole planets with great balls of fire (as Jerry Lee Lewis would say) if we were allowed to travel the galaxy under capitalism. I was very convinced of these ideas at one stage but am not so sure now (largely because it would be difficult to keep such a big conspiracy secret)...
  2. Was Marilyn Monroe murdered? – I think so.
  3. Are UFOs flying overhead? – Yes! A very large number of them were spotted over Mexico at the time of the Zapatista uprising in January 1994. Aliens are very interested in what is going on on the Earth, especially events that will play a big role in the future of this planet such as those revolutionary movements in Mexico.
  4. Is Elvis Presley still alive? – No.
  5. Are the Royal Family giant lizards in disguise? – Obviously not! The former snooker commentator, David Icke, who came up with that theory (after wearing purple and believing that he was the son of God, or perhaps at the same time) is an utterly ridiculous character. Some people have thought that “lizard” was a code-word for “Jew” and accused him of anti-semitism, but those who have analysed his literature and attended his lectures in sufficient depth have realised that he really does believe in lizards!
  6. Was Princess Diana assassinated? – Definitely! See my page on assassinations for my analysis of the evidence, largely taken from a brilliant book (entitled Diana: Death of a Goddess) by David Cohen.
  7. Did Adolf Hitler fake his own death? – No.
  8. Are alien abductions taking place? – No. In my opinion, this is a false conspiracy theory promoted by big business to make us think that aliens are evil. For any race to survive in a galaxy full of good species, it must itself be good or it would be outwitted too easily to be sustainable.
  9. Was there a plot to assassinate John F Kennedy (JFK)? – Yes. The interesting song “John F Kennedy” by Tom Clay says that he was a good man towards the end of his life. This was probably enough justification for the US “secret services” to bump him off. I thought it indicated that he tried to stop the Vietnam war, but I think those references refer to Bobby Kennedy (RFK), who was later assassinated while running for President and was much more radical than his brother (particlarly taking up issues of racism).
  10. Mind control – This item featured John Allman from an organisation called Christians Against Mental Slavery, who showed a device which he said (although it was relatively crude compared to the sort of device used by organisations like the CIA) was capable of broadcasting voices into people’s heads. He had received mysterious phone calls at four o’clock in the morning, including one saying that he would die if he didn’t leave the country, but he stood up to the forces of big business and said that he didn’t know how they would cope with somebody revealing how they operate on TV! The first time that mind control was discovered was after POWs tortured by the Chinese during Korean War had been discovered to have become Chinese agents after that experience, on return to the USA. It was also revealed that documents had been leaked which showed how the CIA used drugs such as LSD during the Cold War, and film footage from the 1960s was shown of a bull being prevented from charging due to a radio-controlled implant in its brain. The programme talked about mind control using machines, but some people can also do it using their brains, such as magicians and particularly the “former magician” Derren Brown.
